Yes those were bad times indeed. Even most black people I talk to over the age of 50 reminisce on days when children were safe and neighborhoods were strong and education was valued. This from people who have seen it all.
No one wants to return to the days of Jim Crow, well no one I know, but we have thrown a good many babies out with the bathwater.

New conclusion: My preference would be to have an engaging exchange of opinions on your sites. These are your posts. Even "old media" grants access to critical points of view. That being said, there are plenty of other things I like to talk about, quite often one to one and face to face. Your opinion counts as much as anyone's, on or offline. If you catch me treating anyone discourteously who comments here, call me on it.
