The Mayor Sleeps Tonight

I've let so much good stuff pass by these past few months, it's truly a shame. It seems barely a week goes by that the Mayor doesn't do something "Douglass". David Letterman has said what a joy it is to have G W Bush as President. It makes his job so easy and likewise Douglas Wilder is a blogger's dream. He is so full of himself that it seems like a public service to try to deflate him or at least chronicle his record. Despite contrary opinion I would sooner talk about everything that is going right with the City and the great things that are being accomplished.

Here's an example of the Mayor's conceit. Trying to take the moral high ground he stated that the recent flooding in Battery Park was due to institutional racism while somehow ignoring the fact that Battery Park was built as an all white suburb in early part of the 20th century. He was called to task on this by the senior Archivist from the Library of Virginia. Like George Bush he seems congenitally incapable of apologizing or admitting error.

I am going to try to catch up with the Mayor in this space, not necessarily in chronological order. As stated earlier it does seem worthwhile somehow to compile the Mayor escapades in on place, if only for my own satisfaction.
