Nine thousand, four hundred Richmonders* from fifteen different counties took part in an annual rite of late spring, The Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure. The event helps raise money to cure breast cancer and acts as gathering point for survivors, families and friends to celebrate another day of living. It also provides a opportunity to remember, mourn and commemorate those that have passed on. I wasn't there and I have no one known to me directly who has had breast cancer, but I have run and walked in the past and have been adopted by a survivor. Debbie's Mom loves me for no reason other than I was there once or twice. I wish her health and long life and plan to be there next year. How many Mom's do you get? I've got two.
Happy Mother's Day
*Everyone who comes to Richmond to celebrate life is an honorary Richmonder.
