To Those Who Attended, I Apologize

To anyone who attended tonight's City Council meeting at my encouragement, I apologize. I thought I was going to die. It was crushingly (adverb alert) dull. Among the highlights:

  • A Nigerian (?) man spoke dramatically in the comment period about the census, New York, Texas and George W. Bush. It was stirring and a little bit scary.
  • A Baptist minister compared charging churches a water hookup fee to charging hospital volunteers for using hospital equipment and medical carts. That's one church I want to avoid.
  • Reva Trammel thanked the new CAO 10 times and listed each street corner they visited taking nearly 20 minutes to do so. I can't help thinking about a comment Bookstore Peit made some time ago. You will have to look it up.
  • Another 20 minutes on discussing whether you could amend to the amendments of the DMP.

After 3 hours they asked for comments on the amended DMP amendments. Almost nobody understood them, including the council. After pleading with Kathy Graziano she let me deliver my prepared remarks, which was rather fun. I was so glad to get some airtime, I pulled it off without stumbling. I can't wait to see the video on the Richmond Telegraph. I wonder if Silver will send me a copy?
