The statistics are in and I'm a hit in 46 states, but what I find most disturbing is that I have no readers in Delaware. Delaware, being the first state to sign the constitution, I decided to find out what makes Delawareans tick. Here are some fun facts about Delaware courtesy of the Discovery Channel:
- Delaware has a state bug - the ladybug!
- On December 7, 1787, Delaware, became the first state to ratify the United States Constitution.
- Thomas Jefferson said Delaware was like a ladybug - small, but of great value. So Delaware is known as the Ladybug State.
- Delaware was named after the Delaware Indians, which is not an Indian word!
- Barratt's Chapel, known as the Cradle of Methodism was built in 1780. Some of the original parishioners still worship there.
- Delaware shares a semi-circular border with Pennsylvania.
- Delaware is the only state without any National Park.
- Delmar, Delaware is popularized as the little town too big for one state.
- Twelve concrete observation towers along the coast still protect Delaware from German u-boat attacks.
- Horseshoe crabs may be viewed in large numbers up and down the Delaware shore in May. Plan your trip accordingly.

i like it when ppl talk about ladybugs, whether from Delaware or not.
"Barratt's Chapel, known as the Cradle of Methodism was built in 1780. Some of the original parishioners still worship there."
Might have to check them out never seen anyone over two hundred years old.
Don't forget that the current United States Vice President is a Delaware resident.
It has not one professional sports team...
Dupont, the major corporation of Delaware, would be that wonderful producer of refrigerants containing chlorine which ate the huge hole in our Ozone Layer...
Sussex County DE produces the most chicken and lima beans per acre than any other county in US.

Howard at Delmar Dustpan pointed out your blog so I had to stop by. Nice summary about the state. I will have to put a link to your post on Twitter, hopefully drumming up a few more Delaware visits.
I might also point out that Delaware is part of the DelMarVa peninsula which ought to be its own state.
We're here! Now what?
I have determined Delawareans have a decent sense of humor. I also believe there must be 100 more things that are cool about Delaware that you would only know.
Thank you Delaware for your comments. Now I have to go to Delaware and set the record straight myself. Anybody know any cheap places in Dover I can stay?
Dude, I missed this. In your graphic Delaware is misspelled. Shame, shame, shame! You don't want us to get a mob together and invade Richmond, do you?
Not Dover, but try Killens Pond State Park - cabins, camper sites, and tent sites, trails, nature center, water park, etc...
:)
Thanks Elbert, spelling has been corrected and the graphics manager has been fired.

Vampires, zombies, and Methuselah, oh my!
If you really come to visit, Dover would not be the most impressive of cities.
First you must understand the State is of three Counties...The most Northern being New Castle, then what they call "Slower Lower", referring to both Kent and Sussex Counties.
The culture changes from Leftist Latte Loudmouths, to Rightest Rebellious Rural America...Kinda like a micro version of the North vs South.
Bethany Beach IS THE BEST PLACE TO BE IN DELAWARE! Or Cape Henlopen and LEWES(pronounced Lewis), works well also. Just push the retards from Pennsylvania out of the way...
If you prefer calling yourself a Yankee, then Newark or Hockessin in New Castle would be good spots.
One of your facts from Discovery channel says
Twelve concrete observation towers along the coast still protect Delaware from German u-boat attacks.
Apparently the discovery channel thinks Delaware is still at war with Germany. But I am from Delaware and I assure you we are not.
Now we are all wondering, how are your hits from Delaware now?
Josh,
Delaware has stood in the front line protecting our shores. The fact there have been no U-boat attacks in 65 years stands as mute testimony to the courage and vigilance of Delawareans. I salute you steadfastness in defense of our freedom.
Elbert,
Things are really picking up.
Delaware is fast becoming my favorite state.
How many Delawareans are there anyway?
US Census Bureau just released census estimates, can't remember exactly but it's somewhere around 800,000.
So far the only celebrity Delawarean I have come across is Valerie Bertinelli.
